Savage Helps Students SHINE

In partnership with Hillcrest High SchoolCanyons School District, and United Way of Salt Lake, Savage is pleased to announce the creation of Savage-Hillcrest Impact Network for Education (SHINE), a partnership designed to serve students and families in the community. SHINE provides physical, mental, and emotional support to students and their families through the Community Hub and career and technical education (CTE) courses.

Helping Students SHINE

Hillcrest High School originally opened in 1962 and was recently rebuilt with all the amenities to help students learn and excel into the future.

An on-site Community Hub provides students and families with  showers, a full laundry room, and a pantry full of food, clothes, and other necessities. This facility ensures that students and their families have full access to be clean, fed, and clothed during the school week and on the weekends.

In addition to the Community Hub, new CTE courses have also been added to the school’s curriculum to provide students with technical-based courses. These classes will help get students exposed to the fields of supply chain management, transportation and logistics, and other similar areas of study to help them be career-ready when they graduate high school.

The Savage Commitment

For 75 years, Savage has strived to make a difference in its communities around the world. The SHINE partnership is part of that effort to make a difference. Savage committed to giving $500,000 over the next five years to the SHINE partnership. This money has gone to help build the Community Hub and will continue to be used to support the hub and CTE courses.

Savage is also committing time from its Team Members to help students through job shadowing, mentoring, and tutoring. Students in the CTE classes will have the opportunity to work alongside Savage Team Members, providing them with experience outside the classroom.
