Savage Announces Planned Railport to Efficiently Connect Southern Utah to Broader Domestic and Global Markets

CEDAR CITY, Utah (October 5, 2022) – Savage, a global provider of industrial logistics infrastructure and supply chain services, is pleased to announce plans to construct, own and operate a multi-commodity railport in Iron County, Utah, northwest of Cedar City. The Savage Railport – Southern Utah will provide transloading services to connect critical supply chains for agriculture products, construction materials and other essential commodities. The railport is expected to be operational within 12-15 months and will provide shippers with direct access to Union Pacific rail lines. Savage is currently working with Iron County to obtain all necessary permits.

“We’re excited to expand our Savage Transload Network into Southern Utah, adding to the more than 50 transload terminals we operate across North America,” said Jason Ray, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Savage. “The Savage Railport – Southern Utah will support moving building and construction products, dry-bulk and liquid-bulk materials between trucks and railcars. This transportation infrastructure investment will drive economic growth and support jobs by helping connect farmers and businesses in Cedar City, St. George and rural communities throughout Southern Utah with broader domestic and global markets.”

On Oct. 11-13, Savage is participating in Governor Cox’s 2022 One Utah Summit in Cedar City, presented by Southern Utah University, Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, Utah Office of Energy Development and World Trade Center Utah. Savage will host an informational booth at the summit, and Sr. Director of Business Development Phillip Hoskins will participate in a breakout session to discuss infrastructure projects in Utah. Attendees are invited to stop by the Savage booth to learn more about the company and opportunities associated with the planned railport.
